DM Takes Firm Action Over Substandard Roadwork in Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur DM Durga Shakti Nagpal took strict action during a road construction inspection near Willoby Ground, reprimanding a Junior Engineer over poor quality work and ordering the withholding of an Executive Officer’s salary to enforce accountability and timely project completion.

Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh — A routine inspection of an ongoing road construction project in Lakhimpur turned into a stern administrative intervention after District Magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal expressed serious dissatisfaction with the quality of work on site. The inspection was carried out near Willoby Ground, where a key stretch of road is currently under construction.

During her visit, the District Magistrate closely reviewed the progress and workmanship of the project. Officials said the condition of the construction failed to meet expected standards, prompting immediate action from the district administration. Visibly displeased with the lapses, Nagpal reprimanded the Junior Engineer responsible for overseeing the work, holding him accountable for the deficiencies observed during the inspection.

The matter escalated further when the District Magistrate ordered the withholding of salary for Executive Officer Sanjay Kumar, signalling a zero-tolerance approach toward negligence in public infrastructure projects. The directive underscored the administration’s insistence on both technical accountability and administrative responsibility in ensuring quality execution.

Officials accompanying the inspection stated that the visit was part of a broader effort to ensure construction quality, adherence to specifications, and timely completion of public works. The administration has reiterated that infrastructure projects funded by public money must meet prescribed standards, and any compromise will invite strict consequences.
